Illustrations by the Author.

The four-pointed star symbol of the Tondish ahiinor, with the four colors representing (clockwise from top) kullandu, kewandii, tandaalis, lornaalis. What are these? Answers, of course, will be in the book... The writing in the background? Karjaenic, one of the languages spoken in Tond. I can give away what it says: the first stanza of "Jabberwocky" by Lewis Carroll, which has absolutely nothing to do with the Tond novel.

In chapter six, some "gruntags" make a threatening appearance to Rodan.
